LDSCNY opens new Computer Center for individuals with Learning Disabilities & the community

The Learning Disabilities Support Center of New York opened a Computer Center for Individuals with Learning Disabilities, their families and the community to foster support and understanding of the unique challenges facing these individuals in their work environment and within the greater community.

A Ribbon-Cutting ceremony with Council Member Annabel Palma and others who made it possible took place on Wednesday, November 18 at 2125 Glebe Avenue.

The Multipurpose  computer room will offer training in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher) and similar applications, Internet Research, Multimedia, Internet Security Applications, and other applications needed to further participant's knowledge and skills.

Although these programs can be challenging for individuals with learning disabilities,LDSCNY’s methods help them understand them. Furthermore, participants can use this technology to communicate and make themselves more marketable for potential employers in this communication and information age.

Council Member Annabel Palma made the honors at the official Ribbon-Cutting ceremony. Board members of LDSCNY as well as representatives from other organizations were in attendance.
